Friars Gate Archers

Archery Club in East Sussex

Home

The Club’s origin stems from 1969 and was initially established on a farm within the Ashdown Forest from where it acquired its name.

The club spent many years outdoor target shooting at Buxted Park near Uckfield.

We now shoot target at Barnsgate Manor, Herons Ghyll, East Sussex, TN22 4DB. Our field archery venues are within attractively wooded settings in Crowborough and Eastland Wood, Fletching.

There are approximately fifty active members aged from eleven to eighty. Shooting styles reflect individual preferences with equipment ranging from the traditional long bow through to the modern recurve and compound bows.

We participate in the Winter and Summer Selby League.

For those seeking an introduction to the sport beginners’ courses are run throughout the year. See the beginners course page for more information.
